On Friday January 14th, 2022 seventy Ukrainian government sites were the victim of a cyberattack with the message “Ukrainians! … All information about you has become public,” the message said: “Be afraid and expect worse. It’s your past, present and future.” This attack has caused the website of the ministry of foreign affairs to go offline temporarily, as well as crippled the sites of the cabinet of ministers and several other ministries. With the growing tensions in the region, could this be a precursor to further cyber or ground-based attacks?
The WISR.AI product is able to identify such an attack through our global monitoring system which tracks emerging news events just like this. The graph above is an indication in our platform for the intensity and volume of news stories related to this hack. We use this type of data as one of many, many inputs into our Cyber Threat prediction AI system. By aggregating this data at scale, we are able to alert on these emerging threats, while also predicting the impact on an organization based on how “related” the organization may be across a massive set of data.
